Responsibilities

  • Prepares meals and supplements for facility residents, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, requirements, and standards, following the approved menu schedule provided by a licensed dietitian.
  • Assists the Director in planning and implementing menus that comply with regulations, and provides advanced notification of menu substitutions to the Director and residents.
  • Manages inventory and ordering of food and food prep equipment to ensure adequate supply and timely meal preparation; networks with local food banks and community resources.
  • Maintains sanitary and safety standards, including cleanliness of the kitchen, serving and prep areas, and related equipment, dishes, and utensils.
  • Maintains required written records regarding the food service operation.
  • Stays knowledgeable of all procedures and policies, including the Statement of Work, Physical Plant and Operations Manuals, Emergency Drills, Life Safety, Facility Sanitation, and Escape and Unusual Occurrence Procedures.
  • Works necessary hours to staff the center in the event of a work stoppage; attends and participates in all required appointments/meetings on-site, within the community, the court system, or other business-related locations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to cook, organize, and plan food service operations, typically shown through at least two years of paid food service experience, with at least one year involving administrative duties such as food ordering, budget management, inspection planning, compliance, and equipment operations and repair.
  • Ability to manage a food service operation within budgetary guidelines outlined by the company.
  • Comparable experience, training, and demonstrated food preparation/service skills may substitute for education requirements at the discretion of Dismas' senior management.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to drive a company and/or personal vehicle to meet the position's requirements.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

$22.84 per hour

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week (variable as needed). Split/Flex schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:30 AM - 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM - 7:30 PM.
