Cook - FT Temporary Position

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled, mission-driven Cook with preferred pastry background to help elevate the quality of meals served in our Behavioral Health hospital. This position supports efficient kitchen operations by ensuring food is prepared accurately, consistently, and on time to meet quality standards and patient satisfaction expectations.

This is a temporary full-time position (up to and no more than 6 months in temporary status) requiring 32 to 40 hours per week, including weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality, visually appealing meals for patients and staff
• Follow therapeutic diet orders, texture modifications, and behavioral health safety protocols
• Support menu preparation, food production, and presentation standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment
• Assist with inventory, food prep, and teamwork across the dietary department

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Culinary training, certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Food Handler’s Permit or ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
• 3 or more years of professional cooking experience in healthcare, school/institution food service, or commercial dining
