Cook - FT Temporary

About the role

We are seeking a hospitality-focused temporary Cook to join our Culinary Services team. This position involves full-scope, hands-on production cooking. The temporary assignment is expected to last approximately 6-8 weeks, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role based on performance and hiring needs.

Responsibilities

• Work all stations in the kitchen, efficiently running the assigned station during shifts while following all specifications and stocking food as needed.
• Maintain the quality of food and plate presentation.
• Prepare soups, stocks, sauces, and items requiring boiling, braising, or roasting according to standardized recipes.
• Prepare and serve sautéed, fried, grilled, steamed, and baked items as per standardized recipes.
• Prepare or direct the preparation of all food served, adhering to standard recipes and special diet orders.
• Plan food production to align with meal serving hours, ensuring excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food.
• Determine the amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus, ensuring timely retrieval from storage areas.

Requirements

• SERVSafe Certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital or senior living preferred.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic and understand measurements and conversions.
• Minimum of three years’ experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution.
• Ability to plan and organize work, interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards.
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of nutrition and diet.
• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.

Schedule

• Monday - Saturday: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm & 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm
• Sundays: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
• Must be able to work weekends and maintain a flexible schedule.

Pay

$20.00 - $22.51 per hour
