Cook (FT Days/Evenings)

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Cook I prepares, cooks, and serves food for patients, clients, residents, employees, and catered events at Allied Services under the supervision of the Director, Dietary Operations CCSNC. Assigned duties are tailored to the age-specific needs of the patients served.

EDUCATION

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with a culinary arts degree being beneficial.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Two to three years of institutional or commercial cooking experience are required.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Cleared by PA State Police criminal history check
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff and visitors
• Knowledgeable in use and care of food service equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Moderate work: lifting up to 25 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently, standing for prolonged periods, bending, reaching, and stooping (occasionally in strained positions)
• Ability to transport self throughout facility

ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS

Individuals may be subject to minor burns, scrapes, cuts, slips, and falls while performing normal duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in a well-lit, ventilated area with occasional variations in temperature (hot/cold).
