Responsibilities

The Cook I is responsible for maintaining the standards established by the executive chef. This includes preparation and presentation of food, tasting, and sanitation.

  • Cutting or peeling fruits and vegetables
  • Boiling water for rice or pasta
  • Making sure food on the menu is available and prepared
  • Seasoning food

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a high-volume kitchen assisting in the preparation of food
  • Knowledge of sanitation and quality food preparation techniques
  • Flexibility to work all kitchen areas
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with other staff to produce a positive guest experience

Work Environment

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in the back of house of the casino, which can be fast-paced with excessive noise. There may be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, secondhand smoke and excessive noise.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • Stand and walk
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Talk or hear
  • Taste or smell
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
