About the role
The Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital (VPCH) is seeking a Temporary Cook C to join their team in Berlin, Vermont. The kitchen prepares and cooks meals for patients in a 25-bed hospital setting. Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, knives, and cleaning tools.
- Lift up to 60 lbs. and perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.
- Maintain organization in walk-in and dry storage areas.
- Assist with cleaning duties as needed.
- Participate in menu review and food production.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year or more of experience in volume cooking.
- Completion of a high school level culinary arts career preparation program.
- Completion of a formal course in commercial food preparation.
Qualifications
Applicants must be able to operate kitchen equipment, lift up to 60 lbs., and work under conditions of high heat and humidity. They should also be comfortable working in an institutional kitchen environment and supervising institutional residents or inmates in work situations.
Skills
