New Horizons of the Treasure Coast is the largest mental health and addiction recovery provider on the Treasure Coast (and beyond), serving 15,000 children and adults annually through inpatient crisis services, a 24-hour helpline and mobile response team, and outpatient programs across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. About the role

New Horizons is looking for a Cook with the ability to multi-task, follow instructions, and work independently in a facility-type setting.

Responsibilities

• Review the dietitian’s menu to determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, and salads to be prepared.
• Prepare, cook, and serve three nutritional meals daily in accordance with the menu.
• Prepare snacks between meals for clients.
• Assist the Food Service Coordinator in maintaining and ordering items for meal preparation.
• Consistently wash all soiled utensils, dishes, pots, and pans from cooking and serving, as well as all soiled dishes and trays from unit meals.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes.
• Handle and store ingredients and food properly.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing.
• 6 months of experience in a facility-type setting preferred.
