About the Role

Prepare and serve meals to clients and employees in cafeteria settings. Maintain sanitation in all areas of the dietary department, including dish service, trash disposal, and cleaning receptacles. Assist in inventory control, stock management, and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring. Function as a supervisor in the absence of the food service supervisor.

Serve diets according to the manual menu set by the facility and ensure compliance with required regulations. Operate food service equipment, understand weights and measures, and work with little or no supervision. Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals in a cafeteria setting.
• Maintain sanitation in all areas of the dietary department, including dishwashing and trash disposal.
• Stock supplies as they arrive and assist with inventory control.
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring.
• Supervise operations in the absence of the food service supervisor.
• Operate food service equipment and understand weights and measures.
• Serve diets according to the facility’s manual menu and comply with regulations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in food preparation.
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Good communication skills.
• Must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis, breath analysis drug screening, and background check.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing for probable cause as per agency and bureau policies.
