Cook
Position Summary
Serving as a passionate and dedicated Cook, you will join our Culinary team to prepare food of outstanding quality and taste for our patients, families, and staff. This role may involve interacting with patients and families, requiring strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
Shift Schedule
This position requires open availability for 40 hours per week, covering first and second shifts (7am to 3pm and/or 1:30pm-9:30pm) from Sunday through Saturday. Schedules are subject to change based on hospital needs, including nights, holidays, and weekends, as requested or required.
Experience
- Strong understanding of sanitation and safety requirements in a hospital kitchen
- Exercises good judgment regarding interpersonal interactions with peers, manager, patients, and families
- Professional food service experience required, with experience in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred
- ServSafe certification or ability to obtain before or upon hire
Education
- Culinary degree or 1-2 years of culinary experience required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Major Accountabilities
- Completion of daily tasks for meal preparation, cooking, or clean-up, or catering needs as assigned by the Chef or Sous Chef
- Tasting prepared meals to ensure quality and immediately correcting issues with food quality and taste before serving
- Ensuring presentation of prepared foods meets highest quality standards required by the organization
- Notifying the Chef or Sous Chef when there are issues with inventory, equipment functionality, safety, or sanitation
- Correcting issues promptly if able
- Absenteeism and punctuality for assigned shifts to prioritize patient care
