About the role

The Cook position at Harbor Light is part of The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division's mission to provide leadership and support for the nutrition program. The Cook is responsible for preparing meals according to the menu and ensuring compliance with health and sanitation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals consistently with the menu identified.
• Obtain supplies from storerooms, coolers, or freezers.
• Organize and supervise the receipt of deliveries and maintenance of food service areas.
• Secure food and equipment from theft.
• Clean and maintain the food service area daily to meet health and sanitation standards.
• Document all completed tasks.
• Supervise kitchen staff, including volunteers assigned to the Food Service Department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current Chicago Sanitation License.
• One year of food service experience.
