About the role

The Salvation Army is seeking a cook to join their team in Seaford, DE. This position is available immediately and is part-time, requiring 29 hours per week. The employee will report to the Office Manager and will be responsible for maintaining the kitchen and multipurpose room in an orderly and functional state.

Responsibilities

• Follow individual work schedule provided by the Office Manager to indicate specific responsibilities and the time scheduled for them.
• Participate in staff/volunteer gatherings and attend program meetings as scheduled by the Corps Officers/Office Manager.
• Maintain a cleaning checklist, sweep and mop floors daily, and keep the kitchen clean and sanitary.
• Manage an inventory list of kitchen supplies and inform the Office Manager weekly of supplies that need to be ordered.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, plan monthly menus, and communicate with the Office Manager about food ordering needs.
• Assist with additional food services as needed.

Requirements

• A high school diploma and current ServSafe certification.
• The ability to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
• One to three years of successful work experience in this field.
• The ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently and interact positively with all types of people.
• To obtain clearances required by the Joseph R. Biden III and the Child Protection Act.
• An understanding and appreciation for The Salvation Army's Mission.
