About the role

The Actors Fund Home, an assisted living, skilled nursing, accredited dementia care and sub-acute rehabilitation center located in Englewood, NJ, and a recipient of a CMS Five Star rating, seeks a Full Time Cook.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for residents and staff in accordance with food safety regulations and within physician’s/nutritionists’ dietary recommendations
• Maintain high standard of food preparation, sanitation, storage, and portion control
• Determine food and supplies needed for daily menus; obtain supplies in time for adequate production
• Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved
• Assist in scheduled cleaning duties following established sanitary standards
• Assist in supervising dietary functions and personnel in absence of supervisor as directed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience with institutional cooking in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets for nursing home residents
• ServSafe Certified or able to certify within 90 days
• Ability to lift various carton weights up to 40 lbs
• Ability to work in cooperation with other staff members and multitask in a faced paced environment

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and comprehend English and follow verbal and written instructions accurately
• Able to make simple calculations
• Maintain required records as necessary
• An understanding of, affection for, and a desire to work with seniors

Pay

Hourly Range: $22.66

Schedule

Full time (40 hours) hourly position based at The Actors Fund Home in Englewood, NJ. The schedule for this position will be from 5:00am to 1:30pm or 10:30am to 7:00pm. The successful candidate must be able to cover assigned shifts on a regular basis, including weekends, holidays, and should be available to cover vacations/call outs of other cooks on occasion.
