Key Responsibilities
- Review menus, production sheets, and communication boards to determine food preparation needs.
- Prepare meals according to standardized recipes while maintaining quality, consistency, proper texture, portion sizes, and safe serving temperatures.
- Taste and evaluate food during preparation to ensure quality standards are met.
- Prepare meals that meet prescribed therapeutic diets and make approved substitutions when necessary.
- Cook meals that are served on schedule.
- Portion food according to established menu guidelines.
- Aid in the supervision of Nutrition Services operations in the absence of the Director of Nutrition Services and team leaders.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchens, refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and food preparation spaces.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks in accordance with health and regulatory standards.
- Receive and check food and supply deliveries as needed.
- Assist in training team members on the proper use and care of kitchen equipment.
- Participate in departmental audits and quality improvement activities.
- Report equipment issues and supply needs promptly.
- Follow HIPAA confidentiality requirements, organizational policies, infection prevention practices, and workplace safety procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings and required in-service education.

- Ability to prepare high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to food quality, customer service, and food safety.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine lifting associated with food preparation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience in healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or commercial food service.
- Experience preparing therapeutic or modified diets.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
- Experience with large-batch meal preparation is preferred.
