About the Role

Assists in the preparation and service of meals and is responsible for kitchen and dining area sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares well-balanced, nutritious meals to support student health, in collaboration with the food service manager.
  • Prepares three meals per day, except on holidays and weekends when two meals and healthy snacks are provided.
  • Plans and prepares meals using a minimum 28-day cycle cafeteria menu.
  • Ensures meal service for work-based learning, off-center activities, late arrivals, and other needs.
  • Provides food options meeting nutritional guidelines, including ethnic, vegetarian, and low-fat alternatives.
  • Assists in developing and implementing procedures for ordering, purchasing, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing food products to prevent fraud, contamination, and pest issues.
  • Implements procedures to gather student input on meal planning and quality to ensure satisfaction.
  • Ensures the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property.
  • Provides quality customer service to students at all times.
  • Completes the cafeteria lock-up checklist daily when assigned and ensures security in the area.
  • Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  • Works toward meeting performance standard goals and maintains good housekeeping and sanitation.
  • Adheres to property control policies and complies with DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, and Serrato policies.
  • Demonstrates and models Serrato Corporation’s core values and operating principles.
  • Mentors and reinforces career success skills to help students become more employable.
  • Participates in mandatory PRH staff training; failure to participate may result in disciplinary action.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic food preparation and proper food handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of general kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under the direction of senior personnel.
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain a high level of organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • One to three months of food service or related experience.
  • NRA Food Service Sanitation or equivalent/Safe Serve certification.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
