The Prep Cook assists with food preparation, oversees kitchen operations when the Culinary Manager is away, and helps ensure safe, timely, and high-quality meal service across ranch homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in preparation, seasoning, and cooking of meals
  • Ensure timely meal service and proper food temperatures
  • Supervise and support kitchen crew and Rancher/Resident helpers
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Organize and maintain walk-in coolers and storage areas
  • Check in food deliveries for quality and quantity and ensure proper storage
  • Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Culinary Manager
  • Accurately complete production, sanitation, and operational records
  • Inspect kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Support food delivery to ranch homes while maintaining sanitation standards

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring strong attention to detail and accountability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2–3 years of food service or cooking experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to multitask and maintain strong organization in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Reliable, responsible, and team-oriented work ethic
  • Ability to work closely with staff, residents, and volunteers
  • Possess or obtain a Food Manager’s Card (employer paid)
  • Comfortable in a nonprofit / residential care setting
  • CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain - employer paid)
  • Demonstrated ethical behavior, professionalism, and respect for residents

Current Schedule: Wednesday–Sunday | 7AM - 3PM | 40 hours per week
