Cook
Polaris Rehab is seeking a reliable and motivated Cook for our Dietary Department to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents. This role is essential in ensuring residents receive meals that meet dietary guidelines, taste preferences, and individual care plan requirements. The ideal candidate takes pride in food preparation, maintains high standards of cleanliness and safety, and enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
- Follow special diet orders including texture-modified and therapeutic diets
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time and at proper temperatures
- Aid in planning and preparing daily menus in collaboration with dietary leadership
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas
- Follow all food safety regulations and infection control procedures
- Properly store, label, and rotate food supplies to maintain freshness and safety
- Work cooperatively with dietary aides and other kitchen staff
- Absolutely ensure accurate portion control and meal presentation standards are met
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, institutional cooking, or healthcare dietary setting preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (or willingness to obtain certification if required)
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and dietary guidelines accurately
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Basic understanding of modified diets preferred but not required
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
