About the role
The High Volume Cook position at NEXDINE Hospitality is located in Westborough, MA 01581. The shift is either Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday, with 40 hours per week. The starting pay rate is $18-$20 per hour, paid weekly via direct deposit.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, ensuring safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating equipment temperatures.
- Monitor, cook, and prepare foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently, using methods like tasting, smelling, or utilizing food thermometers.
- Prepare stations according to company guidelines, baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables for consumption.
- Carve, trim, and prepare meats and seafood for hot or cold service.
- Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
- May assist with inventory and compile records of food usage.
- Support culinary staff at multiple stations as directed.
- Communicate with supervisor regarding kitchen equipment/supply needs.
- Adhere to and promote company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
- Provide excellent customer service, being attentive, approachable, greeting, and thanking customers.
Requirements
High volume cook positions require a strong understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen setting is preferred, but not required. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Qualifications
High volume cooks should have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a focus on maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions, depending on the location and nature of the work.
Skills
Essential skills for this role include attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure. Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and following recipes is also important.
