About the role

Provide daily evening meal for the residents of the shelter. Insure all food products are prepared, served, and stored (seal in sanitary containers). Develop and maintain nutritionally balanced food menus. Maintain inventory of all food products and supplies. Submit request for food and supplies. Maintain an inventory and maintenance schedule for all food service equipment. Provide service and training to enrolled students of Work Program.

Responsibilities

• Order and keep inventory of all food supplies.
• Order and keep inventory of all kitchen supplies.
• Deal with vendors for ordering.
• Keep sanitary conditions in kitchen and storage areas (State Health Dept. codes & standards).
• Keep and maintain Health Dept. (food service) License current.

Requirements

• H.S. or GED
• Culinary training/certification
• 2-5 years in cooking/culinary work
• 1-2 years in food service management
• Food handling (sanitary)
• Serving (technique & professionalism)
• Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification (per Health Department Standards)
• Valid State of CT driver’s license
