About the Role

Majestic Care of Sagamore Hills is seeking a Cook to support our mission and core values: Listening, Empathy, Accountability, and Decisiveness (LEAD). The Culinary Cook ensures each resident receives nutritious, appetizing meals as prescribed by their physician, with strict adherence to food safety and quality standards. This role operates under the supervision of the Director of Nutrition and Food Services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals using portion control directives.
• Ensure all foods are thawed, stored, and handled safely to prevent contamination.
• Follow recipes and maintain proper food temperatures during preparation and service.
• Review daily menus and production sheets with the Director of Nutrition and Food Services.
• Safely operate, clean, and sanitize kitchen equipment; report malfunctions per community policy.
• Document food temperatures for each meal and monitor cooler/freezer temperatures daily.
• Record meal substitutions and maintain accurate logs.
• Adhere to a cleaning schedule and verify daily sanitation tasks are completed.
• Label, date, and rotate food inventory properly.
• Maintain open communication with residents, families, and staff.
• Garnish meals appropriately and verify incoming food deliveries for accuracy and storage.
• Organize coolers/freezers and assist with perpetual and monthly inventories.
• Participate in the department’s quality assurance program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of experience in large-quantity food preparation preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
