Maine’s Best Retirement Community – Thornton Oaks in Brunswick has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Cook!
You will have the opportunity to have input into menus, cook soups, stews, and entrées from scratch, and offer assistance on putting together special event platters. You will work with a small team under close supervision of the Manager of Food & Nutrition Services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food from scratch, including soups, stews, and entrées
- Assist in putting together special event platters
- Work with a small team under close supervision
- Perform a variety of duties normally executed in serving customers, preparing food, transporting and emptying trash receptacles, cleaning the kitchen, stocking servers, checking and recording hot and cold temperatures, and washing dishes
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Food safety certification required (e.g., ServSafe) and must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
Experience: One year of relevant food production experience required. One year of specialized culinary training or institutional/retail cooking experience preferred.
