About the role
The Cook is a full-time, on-site role based in Mount Calvary, WI.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items according to recipes and school standards, ensuring food quality, taste, and presentation meet Flik’s guidelines.
- Set up workstations, handle food safely, maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, and assist with inventory and stock rotation.
- Collaborate with other team members to support meal service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events, while following all health, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Support the school’s nutrition goals by producing consistent, student-friendly meals in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Professional cooking skills, including food preparation, basic knife skills, and experience following standardized recipes.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and proper food storage and handling procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet meal service timelines.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully with culinary staff and school partners.
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work required schedules and occasional special events.
- Prior experience in school, institutional, or commercial food service is preferred.
- Basic math and reading skills for recipe measurement, portion control, and following written instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights in accordance with safety guidelines.
