Job Summary

Shelton Health and Rehabilitation Center is currently looking for a Cook to join our dietary department. We believe breakfast, lunch and dinner should be healthy, delicious and fun. Our enhanced dining program provides culinary excellence.

Essential Functions

• Prepare pre-planned cycle menus in an efficient and effective manner
• Perform food preparation tasks as assigned
• Ability to read production orders on tray cards
• Determine if the food prepared is of the highest possible quality in taste and flavor
• Assist in planning cooking schedules
• Confirm foods are ready on time for tray service
• Maintain and improve standards of food storage, preparation, and services
• Assist in checking food supplies on food order forms
• Pushes carts to halls or kitchen
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, hygienic methods of food preparation and storage
• Interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates competency in operating kitchen equipment
• Moderate to heavy lifting (50-pound maximum), bending, reaching, and stooping

Education, Licensure, and Experience

• Required: Current Food Handlers card (or ability to obtain one) issued by local Health Department
• Preferred: Prior cooking experience in a skilled nursing environment
