Essential Functions
- Prepare pre-planned cycle menus in an efficient and effective manner
- Perform food preparation tasks as assigned
- Able to read production orders on tray cards
- Determine if the food prepared is of the highest possible quality in taste and flavor
- Absorb cooking schedules
- Confirm foods are ready on time for tray service
- Maintain and improve standards of food storage, preparation, and services
- Absorb checking food supplies on food order forms
- Pushes carts to halls or kitchen
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, hygienic methods of food preparation and storage
- Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates competency in operating kitchen equipment
- Moderate to heavy lifting (50-pound maximum), bending, reaching, and stooping
Education, Licensure, and Experience
- Required: Current Food Handlers card (or ability to obtain one) issued by local Health Department
- Prior cooking experience in a skilled nursing environment is preferred
