Responsibilities
- Planner, director, controller, communicator, and coach for the Culinary Department
- Follows Menu Program meeting nutritional requirements as directed by the Director of Culinary Services
- If assisting with food purchasing, follows approved buying practices by the management company
- Conforms to policies and procedures for special diets offered
- Maintains high resident satisfaction by responding to likes and dislikes
- Ensures all foods are prepared to meet resident satisfaction and adhere to safe food handling practices
- Maintains food temperatures and time controls during storage, production, and serving according to required food safety standards
- Correctly uses equipment meeting all health department standards
- Stores and dates all food items appropriately and properly
- Provides service to maintain good resident experiences during mealtimes
- Circulates in the dining room to assess resident preferences and meal satisfaction
- Provides input and support to the Director of Culinary Services on new hires and staff training
- Provides input to the Director of Culinary Services on evaluations as needed
- Brought performance issues to the attention of the Director of Culinary Services
- Maintains a clean kitchen including all equipment, walls, dry storage, cold storage, cooking, and preparation surfaces and dish storage areas
- Ensures all staff works safely and manages potentially hazardous conditions
- Complies with safety standards
- Fosters teamwork with co-workers, shows initiative, assists others beyond job responsibilities, and has a positive impact on co-workers, residents, and visitors
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed
