Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Cook to join our dietary team. In this role, you will help prepare nutritious, appetizing meals for our residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. You will play an important part in ensuring residents receive meals that meet both their dietary needs and personal preferences.
Your Day-to-Day
- Assist the Dietary Manager with meal preparation and food production
- Prepare and serve meals following approved menus and recipes
- Ensure meals are prepared according to physician-ordered dietary restrictions and special diets
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion sizes
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the kitchen and dining areas
- Follow all food safety, infection control, and sanitation guidelines
- Store food and supplies properly and safely
- Assist with meal service and tray preparation as needed
- Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment as assigned
- Help ensure residents receive meals that meet their nutritional needs
- Work collaboratively with dietary staff and other departments to provide excellent resident care
Qualifications
Preferred Candidates Will Have:
- Reliable transportation
- At least 18 years of age
- Previous cooking or food service experience, preferably in a healthcare, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets
- Compassion for the geriatric population
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
