Primary Location: Liberty, LA | Full time, 40 weekly hours | Evening shift (11:30 AM – 8:00 PM; every other weekend and every other holiday)
Responsibilities
- Assists in training newly hired cooks and works with minimal supervision to perform advanced cooking duties, preparing food items according to complex recipes and product directions.
- Operates kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, shred, trim, and prepare ingredients for culinary use.
- Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and maintains records to plan production and requisition supplies.
- Reviews menus and production sheets to determine quantities of meats, vegetables, sauces, soups, casseroles, breakfast foods, and desserts; plans cooking schedules to ensure timely readiness.
- Prepares pre-preparation items, selects recipes per menu cycle, bakes items, receives inventory, and prepares meals for customers requiring special diets.
- Ensures adherence to CACFP requirements for food preparation, service, and menu planning; attends required training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of CACFP rules.
- Completes production records, conserves leftovers, and handles food in a sanitary manner, maintaining temperatures above 140°F or below 40°F; completes temperature logs regularly.
- Provides high-quality service to customers, fellow employees, managers, and visitors, following CARES standards at all times.
- Assumes responsibility for safety, cleanliness, and sanitation; cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment in accordance with Department of Health standards.
- Attends required monthly in-services and complies with Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
