About the role

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester, through its agency Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston, builds communities that care for all people. This position is located in Hornell, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares meals for the community soup kitchens
  • Develops nutritious menus
  • Responsible for inventory of food and supplies to report to Operations Director
  • Responsible for ordering or purchasing food for both kitchens
  • Captivates and directs volunteers that support the community kitchens
  • Follows Department of Health regulations for food preparation, serving, and storage
  • Conducts daily temperature testing on the refrigerator and freezers; maintains tracking log
  • Maintains cleanliness of both kitchens’ workspace and appliances
  • Reports any necessary repairs or issues to Operations Director
  • Conducts quality inspection prior to each meal service to ensure safety and adequate amount of savory food is served
  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training, and attendance at conferences and workshops
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan, including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • L1 Certification (Food Handler in Charge) from National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe
  • Minimum of three years experience cooking for large numbers

Qualifications

  • Relevant years of experience and education will be considered
