About the role

Calyx Living is seeking an energetic Cook for its assisted living community in North Durham, located off the Eno River and minutes from Duke University, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the American Tobacco Campus, and downtown Durham’s vibrant entertainment district. The cook will work with a small kitchen crew to prepare and present meals that directly impact the lives of senior residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present meals for residents
• Follow recipes and plate food attractively
• Prepare, organize, and handle minimal special requests of senior residents
• Interact with residents in a professional and friendly manner
• Maintain a safety‑first attitude toward residents and staff
• Work effectively as part of a small team
• Ensure quick and efficient service

Requirements

• Cooking experience (must)
• Prior experience cooking and preparing meals in a senior living setting
• Self‑starter mindset
• Ability to understand and comply with state food‑service regulations
• Ability to work as a team
• Ability to follow recipes and plate attractively
• Ability to handle special resident requests
• Ability to interact professionally and friendly with residents
