Job Summary We are seeking a Cook to join our team at ALIYA of Crestwood, a premier healthcare provider in Palos Heights, Illinois. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our residents, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Responsibilities Prepare, season, and cook meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, soups, desserts, modified diet foods, and casserole dishes according to standard recipesPrepare all food in sufficient quantities to cover all service requirementsTime preparation to meet service schedulesEstimate food requirements, utilize leftoversPresent food in an attractive and palatable mannerHandle, store, and refrigerate food in a proper mannerStandardize recipes and determine number of portions needed for mealsRequisition daily food and suppliesSupervise and instruct kitchen workers regarding food preparation and cleaningClean work area and equipmentSubmit requisitions for maintenance of kitchen equipmentConfer with managers and dietitian regarding total kitchen functioningFollow all policies and procedures of the Dietary DepartmentAdhere to all Federal/State regulations/guidelines and facility and department safety policies and procedures Supervision Functional supervision over Food Service WorkersReceives supervision from Dietary Manager Qualifications Experience in quantity food preparation in a residential or healthcare facility, with Sanitation CertificationAbility to supervise and direct othersNo convictions for abuse, neglect, or mistreatment or for misappropriation of propertyPrompt and regular attendance Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Prior supervisory experience desirableBasic math skills when adjusting recipes, measuring, and scalingAbility to read, write, and make simple calculations and follow oral and written directionsAbility to cook a variety of food in large quantities and be familiar with required seasonings and cooking timeAbility to prepare and serve modified diet menusPleasant manner and high degree of grooming and hygieneAbility to work well with others and maintain harmonious relationshipsEmotional stability: ability to deal effectively with stress and maintain a pleasant demeanorKnowledge of principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipmentKnowledge of operation and care of large quantity food equipmentAbility to direct and instruct other kitchen help in job tasks and work cooperatively with Supervisors How To Apply If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
