About the role

The Community Cook position at AgeWell Solvere Living is a vital role within our dynamic team. We are seeking a dedicated individual who can prepare meals in a safe and appetizing manner, ensuring compliance with dietary standards and community policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food items on the daily menu for Residents within scheduled time frame.
  • Keeps food service areas clean.
  • Maintains inventory and supervises servers in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment and assures that Resident diets are being followed.
  • Maintains accurate records of meals served and reports any losses, breakages, or waste to the Food & Beverage Director.
  • Communicates with the Food & Beverage Director about any issues or potential problems in the dietary department.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with other staff members.
  • Maintains professional demeanor and respects Resident rights.
  • Maintains high standards of kitchen cleanliness.
  • Reports on-the-job injuries to the Food & Beverage Director promptly.

Requirements

  • Serv Safe Certification required.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety regulations in food preparation.
  • Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures according to state guidelines.
  • Understanding of various cuts of meat and seasonings.
  • Ability to prepare a wide range of dishes and skills.
  • Experience in catering to seniors' dietary needs.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Qualifications

  • Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in hot/humid environments.
  • Able to handle burns from hot foods, cuts from knives, and falls on slippery floors.
  • Skilled in determining the quality and palatability of food through taste and smell.
