About the role
The Community Cook position at AgeWell Solvere Living is a vital role within our dynamic team. We are seeking a dedicated individual who can prepare meals in a safe and appetizing manner, ensuring compliance with dietary standards and community policies.
Responsibilities
- Prepares food items on the daily menu for Residents within scheduled time frame.
- Keeps food service areas clean.
- Maintains inventory and supervises servers in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of kitchen equipment and assures that Resident diets are being followed.
- Maintains accurate records of meals served and reports any losses, breakages, or waste to the Food & Beverage Director.
- Communicates with the Food & Beverage Director about any issues or potential problems in the dietary department.
- Works independently and collaboratively with other staff members.
- Maintains professional demeanor and respects Resident rights.
- Maintains high standards of kitchen cleanliness.
- Reports on-the-job injuries to the Food & Beverage Director promptly.
Requirements
- Serv Safe Certification required.
- Working knowledge of health and safety regulations in food preparation.
- Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures according to state guidelines.
- Understanding of various cuts of meat and seasonings.
- Ability to prepare a wide range of dishes and skills.
- Experience in catering to seniors' dietary needs.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Qualifications
- Physically able to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40-50 pounds.
- Capable of standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in hot/humid environments.
- Able to handle burns from hot foods, cuts from knives, and falls on slippery floors.
- Skilled in determining the quality and palatability of food through taste and smell.
