About the role

The Community Cook at Sonata Vero Beach is responsible for preparing meals according to the daily menu, ensuring compliance with dietary standards and food-related policies. This position requires a strong understanding of kitchen equipment and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food items within scheduled time frames.
• Keeps food service areas clean.
• Maintains a safe and appetizing work environment.
• Serves as a backup for the Food & Beverage Director, supervising servers and reporting issues to the director.
• Maintains accurate records of meals served and accounts for any losses or damages.
• Communicates with the Food & Beverage Director about Resident health and dietary needs.
• Maintains professional demeanor and respects Resident rights.
• Complies with emergency procedures and reports injuries promptly.

Requirements

• ServSafe certification required.
• Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures as per state guidelines.
• Experience in dealing with seniors and their dietary needs.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Physically able to perform tasks such as bending, reaching, lifting up to 40-50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and working in hot/humid environments.

Qualifications

• Experienced in a wide range of food preparation and serving skills.
• Has a working knowledge of health and safety regulations in food preparation.
• Can recognize quality and palatability of food through taste and smell.
