Job Responsibilities
- Safely handles and stores food according to guidelines.
- Performs daily Quick Check departmental reviews.
- Tests and records food temperatures, addressing issues as necessary.
- Discards expired or contaminated food items.
- Wears protective gear and follows infection control policies.
- Prepares food using standardized recipes and special diet requirements.
- Ensures timely and correct meal production and portion control.
- Pulls, thaws, and preps foods in advance of production.
- Serves meals within meal serving hours and maintains food quality.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and equipment daily and after use.
- Stores, chills, and reheats leftovers appropriately.
- Uses 3-compartment sink and cleans cooking utensils.
- Assists other staff as needed during production, service, and clean-up.
- Closes the kitchen in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
- One year experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, hospital, or similar institution.
- Food handlers' card or Food Safety Certification as required by local ordinance.
- Understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
- Tactful communication skills with co-workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
