Job Responsibilities

  • Safely handles and stores food according to guidelines.
  • Performs daily Quick Check departmental reviews.
  • Tests and records food temperatures, addressing issues as necessary.
  • Discards expired or contaminated food items.
  • Wears protective gear and follows infection control policies.
  • Prepares food using standardized recipes and special diet requirements.
  • Ensures timely and correct meal production and portion control.
  • Pulls, thaws, and preps foods in advance of production.
  • Serves meals within meal serving hours and maintains food quality.
  • Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and equipment daily and after use.
  • Stores, chills, and reheats leftovers appropriately.
  • Uses 3-compartment sink and cleans cooking utensils.
  • Assists other staff as needed during production, service, and clean-up.
  • Closes the kitchen in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

  • One year experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, hospital, or similar institution.
  • Food handlers' card or Food Safety Certification as required by local ordinance.
  • Understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
  • Tactful communication skills with co-workers, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
