Cook - Acute Rehab - Days - FT
About the role
The incumbent will prepare, season, and cook meals according to recipes, using various techniques such as steaming, poaching, broiling, and braising, for patient meal service, the Hospital Cafeteria, and special catered functions. This position is located at the new Irvine Acute Rehab Hospital, a joint venture between UCI Health and LifePoint.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and season meals according to recipes
- Cook meals using various techniques including steaming, poaching, broiling, and braising
- Ensure meals are served safely and hygienically
- Follow dietary requirements and restrictions
- Work alternate schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- Skill in various cooking techniques with the ability to follow recipes and specifications for regular and therapeutic diets
- Previous experience as a cook or related experience in main kitchen and/or cafeteria
- Knowledge of common cooking terminology, mathematics, and standard weights and measures to prepare and adjust recipes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Qualifications
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Skills
- Customer service skills appropriate to the job
