Location: Bolivar, TN – Western Mental Health Institute, Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, Hardeman County. This is an on-site, full-time position requiring a criminal background check.

Overview

Under general supervision, performs a variety of volume cooking duties of average difficulty, including leading others in work. This is the highest class in the Cook sub-series. An employee in this role prepares total meals, directs cooks and kitchen workers, and ensures food quality and timely service.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, cooks, and bakes a variety of dishes according to menus and special dietary restrictions for patients, facility residents, employees, or patrons.
• Utilizes and operates kitchen appliances such as deep fat fryers, steamers, and pressure cookers to ensure food quality.
• Schedules work assignments for cooks and kitchen staff to ensure appropriate coverage for cooking-related tasks.
• Oversees activities of workers involved in preparing and serving meals to ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time.
• Operates and cleans kitchen equipment and machinery to maintain cleanliness and functionality.
• Assists with ordering inventory, determining meal quantities, and training others in cooking-related tasks.
• Logs quantities of food used, food preparation tasks performed, and other cooking-related information.
• Engages with guests, patients, or residents to gather input about food service.

Requirements

Experience equivalent to two years of full-time volume food service work, including at least one year of experience in volume cooking.

Pay

Monthly: $2,349.00 - $3,519.00
Annually: $28,188.00 - $42,228.00
