Selective and Installation
- Select and install brass seals, nylon dies, forming dies/mandrels and compression dies/mandrels.
- Select, operate and adjust computer controlled programs through a touch screen interface to remove die and crimp marks.
- Select pressure test tooling and test compressed hose.
Operation and Adjustment
- Trim hose using a pipe cutter.
- Select sample tooling, section hose samples and inspect to PS 499 using a shadowgraph and wall thickness gauge.
- Measure hose using a micrometer and calipers; then adjust as required for dimensional compliance.
- Compress formed hose to appropriate PS 499 compression templates.
- Select pressure test tooling and test compressed hose.
- Track footage of used tubing and completed hose.
Documentation and Maintenance
- Complete documentation as instructed.
- Store incoming tube.
- Maintain appropriate level of spare tooling.
- Check valves, pumps, intensifier and other hydraulic components for leaks.
- Inspect and clean area to ensure it is kept safe and orderly.
Cutting and Swaging
- Use band saw to trim cut hose ends.
- Select appropriate size mandrel, mount in three jaw chuck and operate flatten out hose ends on a mandrel.
- Swasge hose ends to required size specified in PS499 and use collar to test for fit.
- Square cut hose ends.
Compression and Testing
- Select proper compression tooling; then compress the convoluted hose to appropriate PS499 compression template using the manual compression unit.
- Select proper pressure test tooling and test finished hose sections in tank.
Lifting and Moving
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
