Converting Utility

About the role

This is a full-time hourly position, working on the 2nd or 3rd shift, Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays. The physical location is El Paso Container, 9301 Billy The Kid, El Paso, TX 79907.

The pay rate is $18.77/hr, with a sign-on bonus and retention bonuses: $500 after 30 days, $500 after 6 months, $500 after 1 year, and an additional lump sum after 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run, and clean up printing converting equipment
• Report to the converting shift supervisor and follow the direction of the press operator
• Follow all safety rules and practices
• Learn customer requirements and specifications by reading factory work orders, print cards, and design specifications
• Coordinate activities with other machine crew members to efficiently set up and run orders
• Maintain quality and production standards as required by the company
• Perform set up functions as directed by the operator, such as removing and attaching cutting dies, zeroing and opening/closing the machine, and recovering ink and washing ink filters
• Continually monitor the quality and quantity of production
• Use available time to prepare for set ups and runs by obtaining protection sheets, obtaining and assembling tooling, ink, and other supplies, and tearing apart pallet cards
• Perform assigned clean up functions, such as blowing down the machine, wiping off shafts, cleaning ink systems, vacuuming and sweeping the machine area, and picking up and disposing of miscellaneous scrap
• Perform minor cutting die repairs
• Perform quality inspections and tests, and record findings
• Learn press operator duties and responsibilities
• Follow prescribed practices in all circumstances
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision

Qualifications

• Ability to perform the duties/responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler
• Ability to use basic shop math
• Ability to learn
• Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team

Skills

• Counting and stacking finished product
• Reading factory orders
