About the role
This is a hands-on position with heavy emphasis on leading the activities that relate to inventory and tool management.
Responsibilities
- Handle all aspects of inventory movement of materials and tools, including stocking, re-stocking, and accounting for every item in the warehouse.
- Compile and maintain records of the quantity, type, and value of the inventory on hand.
- Participate in monthly and year-end inventory cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation issues.
- Coordinate inventory requirements and procurement details with the division’s Inventory Manager or other management, depending on site.
- Track the transportation and distribution of tools and material inventory.
- Oversee the records of all stocks and compile evaluation reports, including daily audits.
- Train and coach material handlers to ensure work is performed as expected for safety, quality and production deadlines.
- Give feedback about performance and job expectations to ensure respectful accountability.
- Collaborate with Inventory Manager or other members of management in partnership with HR to resolve employee concerns.
- Address and report all equipment defects or maintenance needs to maintain safe and efficient use.
- Follow all procedures, policies and know the equipment before using it.
- Speak up when observing something that may be unsafe or someone performing unsafe acts.
- Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite (Excel primarily)
- At least 2 years’ experience in transportation, warehouse, distribution or another related environment.
- Excellent communications skills (written, verbal & listening) and interpersonal skills needed to interface with and influence all levels of personnel.
- Bilingual English and Spanish
- Prior Supervisory experience using a forklift (certified is desired) and pallet jacks
- Ability to work assigned schedule and overtime.
- Ability to push and pull up to 25 pounds and lift up to 30 pounds.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in transportation, warehousing, and/or distribution environment desired.
- Current valid Driver’s License, if there is a need for transporting finished goods.
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory management and quality management.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize daily work and meet all internal and external deadlines.
