Controls Technician - programming and building PLC panels

About the Role

Major and established company with a huge majority market share in their manufacturing sector and a good working culture is seeking a Controls Technician for the day shift (7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday thru Friday) in the southwest suburban Atlanta area. The Controls Technician will participate in cell design, integration of controls, and installation of automated equipment. They will build, program, and maintain PLC panels, as well as assist in configuring, testing, operating, and troubleshooting automated systems used in production.

Responsibilities

• Install air logic controls from prints or schematics (Pneumatics)
• Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits containing check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, directional control valves, and pressure control valves (Hydraulic)
• Troubleshoot PLC systems using a computer
• Install, program, or repair programmable controllers and robot controllers
• Operate or oversee the operation of equipment
• Analyze and categorize events within the equipment
• Work closely with engineers and production teams to achieve desired output
• Conduct preventative maintenance, including routine upgrades and inspections
• Repair machine controls, systems, and tools as needed
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment to repair or replace defective parts
• Train others to install, use, and service equipment

Requirements

• At least 6 years of related experience
• PLC programming and ladder logic troubleshooting
• Panel building and electrical experience
• Some robotic experience
• Safety circuit integration
