About the role

This position oversees the operations and maintenance of the controls prototyping lab. Responsibilities include setting up and operating various electronics production equipment, managing lab inventory, and performing tasks like manual board construction, rework, and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various equipment involved in PCB production, including using Excel and Altium applications.
  • Manual construction of prototypes boards where automated equipment cannot process.
  • Lab inventory management, including pulling, counting, and issuing parts.
  • Sit or stand for up to 95% of work hours, lift up to 40 lbs, and work with extremely small SMD components.
  • Perform visual inspections and electronic/electrical testing with a digital voltmeter.
  • Generate reports using Word and read/write electrical diagrams.
  • Evaluate and debug electronics to determine cause of failures and run electronic testing equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in electrical/electronic field, or 5+ years of experience in electronics, electronic manufacturing or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and use digital voltimeters.
  • Knowledge of basic algebra and geometry, and experience with automated SMD Pick and Place equipment is a plus.
  • Strong skills in soldering and de-soldering equipment operations, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and strong multi-tasking and organizational abilities.

Qualifications

  • Ability to evaluate and debug electronics to determine cause of failures.
  • Experience running electronic testing equipment and reporting on UUT performance.
  • Knowledge with automated SMD Pick and Place equipment is a plus.
  • Visual 3D operations to understand movement conflicts and component placement procedures in the pick and place operation.
  • Utilize spreadsheet software to adjust and optimize component placement operations.
  • Strong skills in soldering and de-soldering equipment operations.
  • Communicates effectively in written and spoken form.
  • Exhibits good decision-making and analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Performs effectively in a team environment and works effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
