Controls Technician
About the role
Your role in our team includes verifying electrical schematics, ensuring the proper assembly and wiring of electrical panels, powering up and configuring controls components, assisting with electrical troubleshooting during machine power up and debugging, troubleshooting PLC program using Rockwell Studio 5000 software, verifying correct operation of the machine, testing I/O and alarm functionality, validating the machine electrical system in preparation for factory acceptance testing (FAT), traveling to the customer’s facility for machine integration and site acceptance testing (SAT), and traveling to the customer’s facility to complete service on installed equipment. You will also communicate and interact with customers in a positive and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Verify electrical schematics
- Ensure proper assembly and wiring of electrical panels
- Power up and configure controls components
- Assist with electrical troubleshooting during machine power up and debugging
- Traverse PLC program using Rockwell Studio 5000 software
- Verify correct operation of the machine, testing I/O and alarm functionality
- Validate the machine electrical system in preparation for factory acceptance testing (FAT)
- Travel to the customer’s facility for machine integration and site acceptance testing (SAT)
- Travel to the customer’s facility to complete service on installed equipment
- Communicate and interact with customers in a positive and professional manner
Requirements
Your profile should include an Associates degree in Electrical Technology; Industrial Automation; Mechatronics Technology or related field required or equivalent experience, experience within the automation industry or a manufacturing environment is preferred, the ability to use electrical test equipment and hand tools, the ability to read and understand electrical schematics, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), the ability to troubleshoot PLC ladder logic programming is preferred, and the ability to travel to customer sites.
Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a manufacturing or automation environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
Skills
- Proficiency in electrical test equipment and hand tools
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience troubleshooting PLC ladder logic programming
- Ability to travel to customer sites
