Controls Tech Intern
About the Role
Assigned a mentor who will direct your summer, co-op, or school-year work experience. Work or project assignments will align with your academic background to apply classroom knowledge in real-life settings while also providing opportunities to expand your experience beyond the classroom.
Typical roles for Mechatronics Interns include:
- Process Mechatronics: building and programming control systems
- Operations/Production Mechatronics: troubleshooting production equipment control issues
- Project Management roles
Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, best practices, and all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations. Regular, punctual attendance is required. Ability to read, write, and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Work with a mentor on project assignments aligned with your academic background
- Work with a mentor on projects outside your classroom curriculum to gain broader experience
- Apply classroom knowledge to real-life applications using your technical expertise
- Other duties as required to support business needs
Requirements
- Enrollment in a college mechatronics (or equivalent) program required; completion of freshman year preferred
- 18 years of age or older
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Possess or currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics or an equivalent field
- Available to work a minimum of eight continuous weeks in the summer
- Must be willing to work in any of our Columbus manufacturing locations
Skills
- Motivated to learn about high-speed automated manufacturing environments
- Experience with PLC, Servo, and Vision Programming (Allen Bradley brand experience preferred)
- Fabrication, automation, and industrial experience preferred
