Controls Install Technician Intern

About the role

This is a field-based position where work is conducted on-site at customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Install building automation systems using knowledge of low voltage electricity, electronics (board-level troubleshooting), direct digital controls, and building control techniques.
• Use a variety of hand tools, interpret control drawings, plans, and specifications to install temperature control systems, including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices.
• Prepare for on-site installation by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work with other trades as necessary.
• Maintain assigned stock of inventory, company equipment, and document all related activities.
• Document work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; maintain files.
• Stay current on Trane products concerning installation of direct digital control systems.
• Display team effort and dedication to the customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business requires, including occasional overnight stays.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Current or future participation in an electrical apprenticeship program is desired.
• 1+ years of experience pulling wire and running conduit is required.
• Previous experience installing HVAC controls or electrical work is a plus.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.

Pay

Hourly base pay: $20.00. Compensation may vary based on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.

This is a safety-sensitive role that may require additional drug screening.
