Controls Service Field Supervisor
Overview
The Controls Service Field Supervisor is a mid-level leadership position that combines direct field operations with team supervision. This is a working supervisor role, with approximately 50% of the time spent in the field performing technical duties, assisting with complex jobs, and conducting quality inspections.
Responsibilities

- Spend 50% of time in the field performing the physical duties of a technician, assisting with complex installations/repairs, and providing hands-on technical support.
- Supervise & Mentorship
- Directly supervise Georgia field service technicians; promote self-discipline, self-development, and enthusiasm within the team.
- Technician Scheduling
- Work closely with the Controls Support Representative and Dispatch to optimally schedule technicians, maximizing billable utilization while meeting customer response time KPIs.
- Safety Leadership
- Drive a zero-injury safety culture by ensuring all team members adhere to safety standards, conducting site safety inspections, and maintaining high division driver scores.
- Quality Control
- Perform monthly planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and service repair quality inspections to ensure work meets company and customer standards.
- Financial Management
- Track and manage the financial performance of the service department, including revenue, gross margin, and labor utilization (Service P&L).
- Technical Escalation
- Serve as the first point of escalation for complex technical service issues, utilizing expertise in multiple manufacturer systems (Schneider, Tridium, Distech).
- Resource Management
- Monitor and control budget items such as tools, uniforms, and materials; maintain and track inventory for service operations.
- Training
- Identify additional training needs on emerging technologies and industry trends; train technicians in company philosophy and core values.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience as a control technician, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledgeable in multiple control manufacturer systems; certifications in Tridium Niagara N4/AX, Schneider EcoStruxure, and/or Distech are highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, and rooftops; must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and operate tools safely.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor others, make critical on-the-job decisions, and communicate effectively with customers and management.
- Educational Background: High school degree or equivalent required; strong knowledge of building management system (BMS) structures.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% within the Georgia and Alabama division to support field operations.
