Controls Project Engineer

Responsibilities
- Builds controls design utilizing direct digital controls on a variety of building types, focusing on electronic comfort control and automation systems.
- Obtains and reviews contract documents, including mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, etc., for incorporation into the design of an automation system.
- Creates installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings, and transition to service.
- Develops advanced sequences of operations that meet project requirements.
- Generates Operation and Maintenance Manuals, and reviews contract documents and conducts job surveys.
- Reviews equipment submittals for incorporation into design.
- Transitions these documents to the field.
- Acquires and maintains knowledge of Trane Controls products and offerings, as well as applicable third-party devices.
- Makes cost estimates for projects and assists BAS Technicians as required with wiring/programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphic development, test and startup.
- Works with minimal supervision and advises and guides other engineers.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communicating with staff, providing customer feedback and solutions.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or Engineering Technology, or three (3) plus years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience: Familiarity with operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls; familiarity with new construction and renovation/retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management.
- Skills: Windows operating system and Microsoft Office product knowledge; experience with a drafting/design program; understanding of industry standard protocols and requirements for integration; understanding of IT infrastructure and network architecture.
