Controls Operations Manager
Overview
The Controls Operations Manager will lead and coordinate all automation department activities within the Georgia and Alabama divisions. This pivotal role is responsible for driving exceptional customer satisfaction, achieving significant departmental growth, and maximizing profitability.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Coordination: Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the automation department across the Georgia and Alabama divisions.
Drive a zero-injury safety culture: Take ownership in driving a zero-injury safety culture. Work closely with the Safety Manager to promote team safety and ensure accident-free driving.
Strategic Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor standardized processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within both the controls service and project teams.
Customer Satisfaction: Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring high levels of satisfaction through proactive communication, effective problem-solving, and the delivery of quality services and solutions through our core values.
Growth and Profitability: Develop and execute strategies to drive departmental growth, increase revenue, and improve profitability in both service and project sectors.
Performance Management: Establish and report key performance indicators (KPIs), track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure departmental goals are met.
Team Development and Synergy: Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting open communication, knowledge sharing, mentorship, and mutual support in the controls service and project teams.
Team Growth and Mentoring: Conduct annual performance evaluations to facilitate development and maintain records of skill level, training, and salary level.
Resource Management: Effectively manage departmental resources, including personnel, scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, tools, training, and equipment, to optimize efficiency and achieve financial targets.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on departmental performance, including customer satisfaction, growth metrics, and profitability, and present findings to the General Manager.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as sales, engineering, mechanical, project managers, and finance, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of business objectives.
Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the automation sector within the region.
Sales Support: Work with the sales team to propose projects, maintenance, and service opportunities through scope and estimate reviews, site inspections, and customer meetings.
Qualifications
Knowledgeable in multiple control manufacturer systems and have some training or certifications, including Schneider, Tridium Niagara, & Distech.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in the automation industry, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
Proven track record of driving customer satisfaction, achieving business growth, and improving profitability.
Strong understanding of the controls service and project-based business models within the automation sector.
Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Able to utilize company business systems to track and monitor key metrics.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective processes and improve operational efficiency.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Must be willing to travel within the Georgia and Alabama divisions as needed.
