About the role

The role partners with Finance, business process owners, Corporate IT, operating‑group IT, Internal Audit, and external auditors, setting standards, challenging control design quality, monitoring remediation discipline, and providing clear reporting on control health.

Responsibilities

  • Own the deficiency governance process, including root‑cause analysis, action‑plan quality, owner accountability, aging analysis, escalation protocols, and executive reporting.
  • Partner with business and IT control owners to improve control precision, evidence quality, exception handling, and remediation readiness.
  • Support the development and maintenance of control‑related policies, procedures, training materials, and guidance for control owners.
  • Maintain governance reporting for the Corporate Controller, Finance leadership, IT leadership, and Audit Committee, covering control health, open issues, overdue actions, and emerging risks.
  • Administer or assist with the selected controls platform, including control library maintenance, workflow design, ownership data, deficiency tracking, and reporting dashboards.
  • Coordinate with Internal Audit and external auditors while preserving clear role separation between management governance and independent testing.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in internal controls, SOX, ICFR, audit, controllership, compliance, risk management, or related finance roles.
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other complex/regulated industries preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of COSO, SOX 404, financial reporting controls, deficiency evaluation, control design, and audit‑evidence expectations.
  • Experience collaborating with external auditors, Internal Audit, business process owners, and IT control owners in a complex organization.
  • Ability to constructively challenge weak control design and translate audit concepts into practical business guidance.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including preparation of executive‑ready reporting, remediation summaries, and control‑owner guidance.
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Experience with governance, risk, and controls platforms such as AuditBoard, Workiva, ServiceNow IRM, SAP GRC, or similar preferred.
  • Familiarity with IT general controls, automated controls, segregation of duties, and system‑dependent financial controls preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package with annual profit sharing, matching 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Flexible Spending Accounts, and Health Savings Accounts.
  • Flexible paid time off, holidays, and parental leave program.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, Employee Assistance Program, and other supplemental coverages.
  • Professional development opportunities including tuition assistance, mentorship, coaching, and leadership development programs.
  • Diverse and inclusive workplace with Employee Resource Groups, cultural events, and celebrations.
