Position Summary
Dematic has an immediate need for an Electrical Controls Applications Engineering Intern/Co-Op in our Customer Service Modernizations & Upgrades group. Employees should be based in Grand Rapids, MI, however, must be willing to travel 40-50% to customer locations in the USA.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the design of routine systems that integrate hardware and software
- Assist lead engineers with project documentation and tasks
- Ability to learn and show proficiency with Dematic systems, e.g., CAD, SAP, Travel, and other applications
- Provides assistance in recommending ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction
- Aids in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems
- Assist with software PLC emulation and testing of material handling systems
- Ability to locate and follow Standard Work Practices and procedures
- Performs basic tasks and functions for professional field of work
- Seeks advice and guidance on nonroutine or problem areas from others
- Identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex
- Communicate effectively using both written and verbal skills
- General understanding of project execution and deliverables; Scope, Schedule, Budget
Qualifications
- Actively pursuing a BS/BA Under-Grad in Engineering
- Typically up to 0-4 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above
- Demonstrates and applies comprehensive knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of complex assignments
- Demonstrates a basic knowledge of professional principles and skills
- Effectively uses fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular area of specialization
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
Skills
- Experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider) is preferred but not required

Pay
The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $20.00 - $29.00 per hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
