About the role
As a Controls Engineer on the Renewables team in Cranberry Township, PA, you will develop automation solutions for solar, battery storage, wind, power generation, and water treatment facilities. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to design, test, and implement control applications, support factory and site acceptance testing, and commission projects that strengthen grid reliability and modernize critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and maintenance of engineering plans, schedules, and technical documentation for renewable energy projects
- Design, simulate, test, and implement renewable power control applications for solar, battery energy storage, and wind generation assets
- Configure and troubleshoot electronic databases using industry-standard communication protocols and datalinks
- Serve as a primary technical contributor during customer Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests
- Support site commissioning activities and provide remote technical support as needed
- Initiate requisitions for project purchases and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors
- Manage the design, testing, integration, and shipment of project hardware
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, or standard solutions
- Manage time and priorities effectively to meet project schedules and commitments
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and technical expertise
- Monitor project financial performance and support cost and schedule control efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2 years applying engineering principles in controls engineering, industrial automation, renewable energy, power generation, water treatment, manufacturing, or related technical environment
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% domestically
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in control system engineering
- Experience working directly with customers in a technical or project execution capacity
- Familiarity with Emerson Ovation software and hardware products
- Knowledge of control system applications, distributed control systems, or PLC or SCADA platforms
- Interest in mentoring or supporting the development of less experienced engineers
