Controls Engineer (P)
About the role
The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing control systems for electrical power generation and balance of plant equipment. Works alongside experienced engineers and the production shop to oversee control panel build and testing, and on-site to oversee installation, testing and startup work. Some travel is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Create project documentation including CAD drawings, test procedures and operating manuals.
- Develop PLC programs: Emerson, Allen-Bradley, Modicon.
- Create HMI graphic screens: Machine Edition, Panelview, Cimplicity, Ignition.
- Use industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC.
- Perform programming checkout and troubleshooting system components on-site.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science.
- Familiarity with programming concepts or coursework (Java, Python, C, ladder logic, etc.) is a plus.
- Must have a valid drivers' license and unrestricted driving privileges.
- Must be a US citizen.

- To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:
- Proficient using MS Office and familiar with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Strong organizational and communications skills.
- Willing to learn and strong aptitude for technical problem solving.
- Capable of functioning independently and undertaking various technical roles when needed.
