Responsibilities
- Develop new controls product designs and redesigns in coordination with sales, marketing, service, and manufacturing functions.
- Ensure products meet control design functionality of required points of operation and design intent.
- Identify controls strategies for optimal use of product applications.
- Review, clarify, and validate deliverables to both internal and external customers.
- Develop bill of materials, complete IAN, and communicate translation requirements related to new or changed designs.
- Support and/or manage the transition from design into production, including any necessary testing and training required for implementing new or changed designs.
- Evaluate equipment and facility capabilities when assessing the cost effectiveness of a new design.
- Identify product defects and assist with product quality improvements through hardware and software design and/or functionality changes.
- Participate in value engineering projects to continually improve designs and processes.
- Gather information on competitive product offerings and understand the strengths/weaknesses of Greenheck Group products vs. our competition.
- Assist in job sites to review installation and/or design problems and resolve the situation.
- Provide technical support via phone and e-mail for both internal and external customers including the areas of product selection and application.
- Provide content for the development and updating of product literature.
- Maintain accurate and current documentation on design changes and requests.
- Communicate solutions for unique applications including design and special pricing.
- Organize and present training seminars internally and externally.
- Provide basic to moderately complex technical and application expertise for general knowledge of related control products.
- Create new procedures and processes.
- Often responsible for identifying changes that need to be made in current procedures.
- Review/evaluate returned goods and determine root cause of failures and disposition of materials.
- Provide mentoring, training, indirect supervision of other team members, or may have direct reports.
- Evaluate material selection, cost analysis, and vendors as required to implement new designs.
- Select and compare various electrical components for product customization.
Requirements
- Controls Engineer II: 3-5 years of relevant work experience in engineering required. 2 Year / Associate Degree in engineering or a related field of study or equivalent years of job experience required. 4 Year / Bachelor Degree in engineering preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with function block, structured text coding languages preferred. A good understanding of HVAC equipment operation and applications is preferred.
- Controls Engineer Sr: 6-9 years of relevant work experience in engineering required. 2 Year / Associate Degree in engineering or a related field of study or equivalent years of job experience required. 4 Year / Bachelor Degree in engineering preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with function block, structured text coding languages preferred. A good understanding of HVAC equipment operation and applications is preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree in engineering or a related field of study or equivalent years of job experience required. 4 Year / Bachelor Degree in engineering preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant work experience in engineering required for Controls Engineer II. 6-9 years of relevant work experience in engineering required for Controls Engineer Sr.
- Skills: Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with function block, structured text coding languages preferred. A good understanding of HVAC equipment operation and applications is preferred.

The starting base pay range for this position is $95,161-$144,837 and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
